REVIEW : " Oh Shit , Not Again " - Mandar Kokate

Now i never even planned on buying this book , I went to the store to buy " Immortals Of Meluha" by Amish ( Review of that is gonna come up pretty soon too) , but the cover of this book caught my eye , I read the back cover and thought it was amazing , full American Pie ishtyle . As it turns out , it is more like a Bollywood film directed by a new director and entirely new crew targeting the middle and late teen group.

Raj , the main lead , is the new guy in town and quickly makes 4 friends , Andy - the dude whose description at the back of the book doesn't fit him at all , Arti - the hot chick and Raj's big crush , Sam - Raj's best friend and his biggest trouble , Seema - daughter of a military man and Andy's love. Unless you are one of those people who hates it when the teacher leaves the class room , you would be able to relate to the characters quite easily. The situations that the characters get into are quite hilarious but predictable and there are also some parts where the situations get HOT.

The book is like a sneak peak into the average Indian boys brain , and that's how the author fills up Raj , sweet and charming on the outside perverted inside . Once you start reading the book you cant help but envy Raj , he has - a hot girlfriend that loves him , a hot cousin who's interested in him and doesn't mind talking about sex , a totally hot and rich woman who convinces him to have an affair with her just to get back at her husband . Oh his servant is also hot by the way . Now who wouldn't wanna be in that situation?!??!!

The book is like one of those dating sim games you find on the Internet where the hero hits on many girls and in the end has to choose just one girl to be his true love. (If you don't know those games just ask me and ill send you a link , i swear you wont regret it :P) . While the book starts off brightly it starts getting a bit boring in the middle with the comedy sequences slowly being cut down , the ones that do find the place in the middle , look like they have been put there on purpose and sometimes don't go with the flow of the story. The final parts of the book , for me , were patchy and looked liked they were written in a hurry. I felt that the author was becoming impatient and wanted to finish off the story quickly though he does manages to build up a tiny bit of suspense in the end , but then again there were too many tracks running at the same time and that kind of distracted me.

Overall , the book isnt a great piece of work . A very good attempt considering this is the authors first book. Priced at 150 Rs , its not too bad a buy. There are some issues in the book you would need to ignore , the authors use of the english language being one of them.Theres a warning at the begining of the book which says "Beware before you read......you may die laughing" , you definitely wont die laughing but it will surely get a few laughs out of you . Pick it up for some light reading to keep your mind off other things.
